After the May Bank Holiday, things certainly started to pick up pace on site. Dead on Eight o clock on the Tuesday morning saw the arrival of the monstrous crane which positioned itself down the side of the Dairy ( I am pleased it wasn’t a woman driver as I do not know how he managed to reverse all the way down the drive) followed promptly by the numerous roof trusses designed & supplied by Howarth Timber.
In no time the trusses were lifted and positioned into place whilst the team rechecked the levels and secured them to the wall plates. Everything ran like clock work and there was a real excitement and a sense of achievement on site (even the rain eased off on us for the day!). Once the trusses were in place then noggings, bracings were added to create the upper flooring and also the vertical battens to ensure that the roof under hurricane conditions did not move in the slightest !!!.
It was then onto the roof insulation. The Dairy looked as it if was ready for bastings as we used a high tech foil insulation, Thinsulex for the roof. The weather quite conveniently decided to brighten which meant Andrew and brother-in-law literally got roasted fixing this to the roof. As my husband is well and truly a red head I can honestly say this is the first time that he has got close to anything resembling a slight tan.
